KommentareA well deserved and much needed site acknowledging the genius and design eye of the legendary Erwin Komenda. His design of the Porsche 356 is timeless and was the acknowledged genesis of "Butzi" Porsche's design for the Porsche 911. There is still a little bit of Erwin Komenda in every Porsche built today. And for that matter every Volkwagen Beetle (one of the world's most successful automobiles). Erwin is unfortunately forgotten by many today, when other less worthy individuals in automotive history are remembered. Hopefully your website will help get him the credit he truly deserves. KommentareI've been searching for patent documents on the Porsche and Beetle, and here I am within an inch of finding them! I encourage you to put up larger copies, so that the patent numbers are visible. That way, people can find the full-size documents at the American or German Patent Office website.

KommentareMr. Komenda designed the body and other elements of the most popular car in history, the Volkswagen, a fact of which most of their owners are not aware. The air cooled VW Bug remains an extremely popular car in America has become a global icon, benchmark and standard to which countless comparisons are made. I wonder if Mr. Komenda could conceive of the impact his design would have on the motoring world? I have been driving them for over 40 years and own three VW Beetles.
